The Eclipse, Grey, from Buenos Ayres to Liverpool, which was taken in August [1814] by the Chasseur Privateer, has arrived in New York.

POW records have:
11419 John Roberts , seaman, held George Town, South Carolina, released to HMS Goree at Bermuda 21 April 1815

 


4900 Duncan Grey, Master, held Providence, Rhode Island, released sent to Halifax via cartel Analostan 22 March 1815

Extract from the Journal of the Chasseur.

Sailed from Sandy Hook on July 9th [1814]

August 16th, on the Banks of Newfoundland, fell in with British brig Eclipse of Greenock, from Buenos Ayres for Liverpool, mounting 14 guns, 9 pounders, laden with hides, furs, and a little specie, and after an action of one hour she struck; took out the specie and manned her.
