The Caesar, McLarty, from Newfoundland, arrived at Demerary 5th ult.; on the 18th January, in Lat.31.30 Long 43.39 she fell in with a large American Schooner Privateer, of 16 guns, and engaged her for an hour and a half. The caesar had one man killed and five wounded, four of them dangerously.
The Caesar, McLarty, from Greenock to Jamaica, was driven on shore near Ballywalter, during a violent Gale on the 21st inst. Three of the crew drowned. Cargo expected to be saved. A small Galliot, with Pigs on board, was totally lost at the same time. |
