Lloyd’s List Tuesday, January 11th 1814

The Lapwing Packet, Captain Furze, which sailed form Falmouth 22 nd October [1813] with Mails for the Islands and Jamaica, was taken off the Barbadoes 22 nd November [1813] by the Fox American privateer, of 7 guns and upwards of 100 men, and carried by boarding, after an action of an hour and a half. The Packet had 15 men killed and wounded, and the privateer 1 killed and 15 wounded.

The action, and subsequent fate of the prisoners, is given in the account by one of the passengers of the packet, Henry Senior, an Army officer.
