The Swiftsure, Lester, from Newfoundland to Portugal, taken by the Saratoga Privateer, plundered on the 13th ult. in Lat.41 Long. 55 the Concord, from St.John's, N.B. to Scotland. The Concord put into St.Jonn's, Newfoundland 20th ult.

The Swiftsure, Lester, from Newfoundland to Oporto; Transport ship No.27; and the Dry Harbour, Hayes from Teneriffe to London, have been retken and carried into Bermuda.

…Saw two strange sail ahead took them to be English; at 9.50 came up with and commenced the action, and in 40 minutes they both struck their colours, being complete wrecks – they proved to be the - Brig Swiftsure and the schooner James both of Port Glasgow, from Newfoundland for Lisbon, cargo fish. The brig mounted 12 32 pound carronades and two long 9’s – the schooner six 12 pound carronades and two 18’s – ordered them for the U.S.
